The Atelier Pinch Chino takes the shape of our original Pinch Chino and gives it a slightly more refined finish.
The idea was never to completely change the trouser. The relaxed top block, pleated front and signature taper are all still there. Instead, we’ve adjusted the proportions, refined the waist and introduced a premium cotton twill to create something that feels a little more considered while still being easy to wear.
The fit starts relaxed through the seat and thigh, giving the trouser room to sit naturally rather than hugging the leg.
From there, the shape gradually comes in as you move towards the ankle, finished with our signature pinch taper.
The result sits somewhere between a traditional tailored trouser and an everyday chino. There’s shape and structure, but it doesn’t feel overly formal.
One of the main changes from the original Pinch Chino is the waist.
We’ve brought it in slightly for the Atelier version, creating a cleaner fit around the waistband while keeping the same relaxed shape through the upper leg.
Adjustable side tabs allow you to fine-tune the fit without disrupting the silhouette with a belt.
The soft front pleats are an important part of the shape.
Rather than being there purely as a traditional tailoring detail, they create a little extra room through the upper block and allow the fabric to fall more naturally through the thigh.
It gives the trouser structure without making it feel too formal.
This is where the Pinch Chino gets its name.
The leg stays relatively relaxed through the thigh and knee before being darted through the ankle. Rather than using an aggressive slim cut throughout the trouser, the dart creates the narrower finish exactly where we want it.
It gives you a cleaner shape at the bottom of the trouser while maintaining the volume and comfort through the rest of the leg.
One of the things we like most about this shape is how easily it moves between smarter and more casual outfits.
Wear them with knitwear, an overshirt or jacket for something more considered, or keep things simple with a T-shirt and trainers.
The proportions stay the same, it’s what you put around them that changes the feel.
For the Atelier edition, we’ve used a 98% cotton / 2% elastane premium twill.
It has enough weight to hold the shape of the trouser and the pleats, while the small amount of stretch keeps them comfortable through everyday wear.
Each pair is garment-dyed, adding a little more depth and character to the fabric rather than leaving the finish feeling too perfect or uniform.
The Atelier Pinch Chino fits slightly neater through the waist than our original Pinch Chino but remains relaxed through the seat and thigh.
Our model is 6ft with a 32" waist and 32" inside leg and wears a 32 Regular.
If you already wear the original Pinch Chino, we’d generally recommend staying with the same waist size, just expect the Atelier version to feel a little cleaner around the waistband.
