Product Description

The Atelier Sashiko Shirt starts with a relaxed 100% organic cotton shirt, garment dyed in a deep navy to give the fabric depth of colour and a slightly lived-in character.

Each shirt is individually hand-finished in Edinburgh in partnership with Remode, a local social enterprise specialising in textile reuse and repair.

Carefully selected vintage Navajo-patterned fabrics are cut into individual panels and applied by hand, before being finished with bold red sashiko-inspired stitching. The contrast between the deep navy cotton, patterned fabric and red stitching gives this version a distinctive character, drawing on traditional repair techniques and the reuse of existing textiles.

Because we're working with vintage fabrics rather than newly produced materials, the patterns, colours and placement will vary from shirt to shirt. No two pieces are exactly alike.

The underlying shirt is deliberately simple and relaxed, with an open point collar, forwarded shoulder seams and a reinforced back yoke. That gives the handwork room to be the focus without overpowering the garment.
